Geomagnetic Storms X is a convenient and simple application for observing space weather. It shows current geomagnetic and solar flare data, and three-day and twenty-seven-day geomagnetic storm forecasts.

All four graphs are available as widgets, and there is also a widget displaying the current geomagnetic index on a scale from 0 to 9. The graphs are based on data received from the Space Weather Prediction Center of the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The difference with the “Geomagnetic Storms” application is a simpler interface and the minimum number of settings.

What you get

Nothing to configure
Open it and the current index is already there. Settings exist, but you can ignore all of them.
Four charts
3-day history, 3-day forecast, 30-day forecast and solar flares — each one also a widget.
Resilient sources
If NOAA is unreachable or returns nothing, the app switches to a mirror by itself rather than showing stale readings as current.
Honest about staleness
When no source has fresh data the app says so. When older data is still worth showing, it carries the date it was measured.
